A friend asked the question: why do men hurt women. I think the answer is pretty clear.
The feeling of power over another human is truly seductive. Combine this with societal ques that indicate that many of your male peers enjoy and defend this social stature. You might conclude that this the 'natural order'. It might be so ubiquitous that you don't even question it. Indeed, you might not understand why you're angry when this fake superiority is questioned. You might question what basis these accusers have to make these 'wild' accusations. You might say these women are "a little bit nutty, a little bit slutty". The ubiquity of male assault on women might be a little secret that we as a culture don't want to tell ourselves. Indeed, we've convinced a lot of women that it was their fault. The whole thing works pretty well.
